God only knows what I'd be without youuuu

Summer. Yaaaay.

Now I'm past the homestretch; where the new routine is to stay up later than usual, after which you wake up skipping breakfast, then you blab about how the earth becomes the planet nearest to the sun during summer and then some.

I'd give it to summer though --- a brighter sunshine for brighter eyes, the breezier days for breezier clothes, louder sounds for louder voices; a season full of new friendships, of friends full of time, of time full of moments and opportunities to make friendships last.

All things considered, what we really need is kick off summer '13 with a soundtrack as we sit and pull our hair back.

Frightened Rabbit might be one who excels at emotionally-charged, climactic ballads with the likes of The Shins or Kings of Leon, but on their recent album Pedestrian Verse, they cut loose on some tracks like "Late March, Death March" and "Holy", with the former sounding downright joyful despite having words such as "The dead balloon and withered flowers, sorry cannot save me now". In fact, I think that song could work well soundtracking climactic emotional scenes in movies. I'm not one to talk, though.

CHVRCHES. Oh how I looooove this band. Lauren Mayberry just has that 80's-vibe type of voice, with eargasmic synth layers pairing up her catchy vocals. Their new track "Recover" shall resonate with you, most especially to listeners of bands like Grimes or artists like Robyn. Best electropop stuff out there.

If you want to jive, try giving Max Frost's "White Lies" a hit of the 'play'. I don't know but this just gives me a sudden jolt of energy. Hmm maybe that's just the kind of magic the mix of soulful vocals and a "Hey Ya" level of groove brings about.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra has become my new favorite band. They maybe a relatively new band from Jagjaguwar, but their new lo-fi rock album is so trippy it's good to be true. As a matter of fact I'll recommend you guys to listen to the whole album II. Not convinced? Listen to "From The Sun", then kill me if this track failed to make you feel good.

Foxygen's The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peach and Magic shall remind you alot of The Rolling Stones that it'll make you think that it's an album of lost samples. The "On Blue Mountain" track is crazy good.

For the sleepy being, Phosphorescent's "Song for Zula", Everything Everything's "Duet", and Josh Ritter's "New Lover" are some worthy tracks to listen to. And with that, you're all set.

Now excuse me as I continue to delve into the world of Bioshock Infinite. Have a happy summer.
